We follow several members of the remarkable Grijze Koppen Orkest (Grey Heads Orchestra). At the end of their lives, in a phase where more and more things are disappearing—health, mobility, loved ones—these seniors find something that gives them hope: music. It opens doors that seemed almost closed. It connects, it heals, it creates space for expression, for feeling, and it ensures that you continue to contribute to life and society.

Synopsis

Older adults face profound changes. They lose their partners or loved ones, struggle with illness, financial worries, or loneliness, and some become increasingly isolated. At the same time, healthcare is overloaded and social services are scarce. But by caring for each other, laughing together, and singing together, something emerges that transcends the limitations and loneliness of aging. And their experiences resonate in the songs they sing. Sometimes painful, sometimes vulnerable, but always straight from the heart. And all of this, of course, in the Hague style—with raw humor, self-deprecation, and genuine warmth.
